Privacy Policy

Last Updated: November 2025

1. Introduction

Your privacy is paramount to us. Lucid Voice is designed from the ground up to protect your privacy by processing everything locally on your device. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect (spoiler: very little), how we use it, and the control you have over your information.

2. Our Privacy Philosophy

Privacy by Design: Lucid Voice is built with privacy as a core principle. All voice transcription happens locally on your Mac. Your voice and transcribed text never leave your computer—they're never transmitted to our servers or any third party.

No Cloud Processing: Unlike cloud-based transcription services, we don't send your voice data anywhere. This means complete privacy, faster performance, and the ability to work offline.

3. What We Collect

Because Lucid Voice works entirely offline, we collect minimal data—only what's necessary for license activation and basic support:

Purchase and License Information

  • Email address (for license delivery and support)
  • Name and billing information (processed securely by our payment provider)
  • License key and device count
  • Device identifiers for license activation

Basic Usage Information (Local Only)

  • App performance metrics (crashes, errors)
  • macOS version and device specifications
  • Feature usage statistics (e.g., which keyboard shortcuts you use)

Note: This usage data is stored locally on your device and only shared if you choose to send a support request or crash report.

What We DON'T Collect

  • Voice recordings: Never captured, transmitted, or stored
  • Transcribed text: Never leaves your device
  • Screen content: We never access what's on your screen
  • Keyboard input: We don't log what you type
  • Browsing history or web activity
  • Location data
  • Contact lists or personal files

4. How We Use Your Data

The minimal data we collect is used solely for:

  • License Activation: Validating your purchase and activating your license on authorized devices.
  • Customer Support: Responding to your support requests and troubleshooting technical issues.
  • Product Improvements: Understanding how the app is used to improve features and fix bugs (only if you opt to share crash reports).
  • Legal Compliance: Meeting legal obligations and protecting our rights.

We never: Sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties except as required for payment processing or legal compliance.

5. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We share your information only with carefully selected, trusted service providers who help us operate Lucid Voice:

  • Payment Processing: We use industry-leading payment processors to securely handle transactions. We do not store your credit card information on our servers.
  • Email Delivery: Trusted email service providers deliver license keys and transactional communications.
  • Infrastructure Services: Secure cloud infrastructure providers store minimal license and purchase information necessary for activation and support.

All service providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for providing their specific services to us. We carefully vet all partners for security and privacy compliance.

Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, court order, subpoena, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Lucid, our users, or others.

6. Data Storage and Security

Local Storage: All voice data, audio recordings, and transcriptions are stored exclusively on your device. You have complete control over this data and can delete it at any time by uninstalling the app or clearing local data.

Server Storage: The minimal data we store on secure servers (license information, email addresses, purchase records) is encrypted both in transit and at rest.

Data Retention: We retain your license and purchase information for as long as your license is active and for legal record-keeping purposes (typically 7 years). You may request deletion of your account data at any time, subject to these legal requirements.

Security Measures: We use industry-standard security practices including encryption, access controls, and regular security monitoring to protect your data from unauthorized access.

7. Your Rights and Choices

You have the following rights regarding your data:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction: Update or correct your information.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data (subject to legal retention requirements).
  • Data Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Opt-Out: Choose not to share crash reports or diagnostic data.

To exercise these rights, contact us at support@lucidvoice.app.

8. International Users

Lucid Voice is available worldwide. If you're using Lucid Voice outside the United States, please note:

  • Your license information may be stored on servers in the United States.
  • We comply with applicable data protection laws, including GDPR for European users.
  • All voice processing happens locally on your device, regardless of your location.

GDPR Rights: If you're in the European Union, you have additional rights under GDPR, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. If we make material changes, we will notify you via email or through the application. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
